Courses and Levels
Eight-Term Structured Pathway
The Arabic Language Program is divided into progressive stages over two academic years.
Beginner Level
This level is designed for students with little to no exposure to the Arabic language. Students develop foundational skills in reading and writing the Arabic alphabet, basic pronunciation, essential vocabulary, and simple sentence structures. Emphasis is placed on introductions, everyday expressions, and core grammar patterns. Students graduating from this level are expected to read short texts, write simple sentences, and participate in basic conversations with confidence.
Pre-Intermediate Level
This level is for students who can manage basic communication but require stronger structure and fluency. Students expand their vocabulary, engage with short structured texts, develop paragraph writing, and improve listening comprehension. Grammar becomes more systematic, and communication becomes more natural and connected. Students graduating from this level are expected to communicate independently in everyday situations.
Intermediate Level
This level is designed for students ready to engage with more complex topics and abstract ideas. Students analyse structured texts, express opinions, develop argument-based writing, and refine their speaking skills. Greater attention is given to grammatical precision and formal expression. Students graduating from this level are expected to write connected texts, participate in structured discussions, and function effectively in Arabic-speaking environments.
Advanced Level
This is the final stage of the program. Students engage with academic, cultural, and literary texts while refining advanced grammatical structures and stylistic expression. Emphasis is placed on extended discussion, analytical reading, and formal writing. Students graduating from this level are able to access university-level Arabic texts, communicate confidently in academic contexts, and assist in foundational Arabic instruction.
